Na Alii O Hawaii
The Kings of Hawaii
1810 - 1893
For 83 years the Hawaiian Kingdom was an Internationally recognized government. Indians & Eskimos, like Hawaiians are indigenous people, but were never recognized by the International community as a sovereign nation as was the Kingdom of Hawaii.

Island Chiefs
Hawaii, Maui, Oahu & Kauai were ruled by individual chiefs before the arrival of Captain Cook. Only after the introduction of Muskets, and a Cannon was it possible for a single King to unite the Hawaiian Islands. Kamehamehas' army aided by two British sailors John Young & Isaac Davis was able to unify the Hawaiian Islands.

Kamehameha
Reigned 1810 - 1819
The birth of Paiea, fulfilled the prophecy of a child who would become a Great King of Hawai`i. By 1810, the chiefs of Maui, O`ahu and Kaua`i relinquished their sovereignty to Kamehameha. Paiea died at Kailua Kona, Hawai`i in 1819. To this day his remains have never been found. Hawaiian culture taught us that bones contain spiritual power, thus they were intentionally hid after his passing.
