The "J" in the surname "Sitjar" was transposed to a "H" when Juan Sithar immigrated to Hawaii. The Sitjars can be traced to the provinces of Iloilo & Aklan on the island of Panay, during the sixteen & seventeen hundreds. Sitjars can also be traced to Gerona, Spain in the fifteen hundreds.

The Makekau ancestry originates on the big island of Hawaii. In the early 1800's, our Great great great grandfather; Keliionuuanu Makekau relocated to Lahaina Maui, Hawaii where he married Mele Kahiwa, their family was comprised of 14 children, Kalanikui, Haliaka, David, Maile, Charles, Kinakaaka, Naohulelua, Samuel, Raymond, Lele, Piehu, Mima, Poni, & Abraham.

Our Great Grandparents: Bernard Palenapa Hoopii, & Elizabeth Hailani Haupu were originally from Kaupo Maui, Hawaii. They resettled in Hana with their 10 children, Josephine, Elizabeth, Bernard Jr., Anastacia, Lei, Mary, Akala, Anna, Ida, & Benny. Today their decendents reside through out the islands of Hawaii, and the mainland.
